The Starscore is a method for patient associations to score the quality of a research proposal. Patient associations, researchers and research funding bodies work together on better patient participation, and thus on better research.

The outcome of the Star Score is a score of 0 to 5 stars. 3 stars is a very good score for a research proposal. It means:

* the research is about something the patient association considers to be important for their members;

* that patients had influence on the proposal, and have influence when the research starts;

* and something has been done with their feedback and advice.

The Starscore is an appendix to a research proposal.

The Starscore was developed from the patient perspective by Tools2use and will initially be used by the Rehabilitation foundation in the Netherlands. We hope the Starscore will also be used by other organisations in the future. If you are interested, we would like to hear it. For more information or a license request, please contact Maud.
